Voices of Congo

“Voices of Congo” is an ICT-based project to give women in the Democratic Republic of Congo who have survived rape with extreme violence a global presence

We envision an internet-based ICT platform which will bring their voices, experiences and thoughts to a worldwide community so that their needs and ambitions can be better facilitated. The DRC has been called the worst place on earth for women because of the widespread violence over the last decade, and there is little opportunity for their voices to be heard.

“Voices of Congo” is an initiative proposed by SAFER, a Canadian NGO that has been working to increase the health care capacity of the Panzi Hospital in eastern DRC over the last five years. SAFER is looking for volunteers with experience in ICT implementation and social media to help run this project.

The project leader is Cathy Nangin, a researcher from Aalto School of Technology.  For further information, please contact Cathy Nangini.
