At Aalto Social Impact, we identify and integrate resources that are required to lower the barriers of collaborative thought and action to enable lasting social change. We believe that the right kind of interaction, education, and mentorship coupled with the internal motivation to belong to a quest larger than one’s own are sufficient for social change. We attempt to infuse these elements into our community through the following offerings.
Events
By regularly organizing events, we attempt to bring the community together. Our events are an always evolving combination of the following themes.
We organize visionary lectures for inspiration and to sensitize our community towards the tremendous opportunity for making positive contributions in the world.
We invite successful changemakers to provide a biographical account of their work and career to provide relatability, and a sense of what social impact work actually means.
Through open-mic sessions, we provide a platform for aspiring changemakers to pitch their ideas and gather support, meet fellow aspirants to join their team, and network proactively with the community at large.
We host debates and discussions on current topics with a goal to educate and learn with you about a specific topic of social change. In the long term, we wish to inculcate a sense of how thinktanks at the forefront of social change operate.
We also organize workshops for imparting organizational and technical skills required for running your own social venture.
Education
While events can certainly serve as strong catalysts and door openers, we believe that greater immersion through courses can truly harness the best in our community. To that end, we are developing highly interdisciplinary, and action oriented courses informed by current research.
Our flagship course, in collaboration with Aalto School of Economics is called How to Change the World“. It has been offered to MA students from the three major disciplines of Aalto University.
